As an experiment since PAX Prime, I've ventured into the world of Twitch viewing and getting involved in gamer streams. As someone who is shy around 'popular' people, it was surprisingly difficult to meet the famous streamers I've been distantly following on Twitter and whatnot! More and more lately, though, I've been increasingly involved in actually watching and participating in streams, even going as far as making my own Twitch handle: TormodWolf. I took to following Brossentia, iateyourpie, Andy, and a few others that I've found supremely entertaining over time, and courtesy of Twitch Prime, I'm now dipping my toes into the subscription model of Twitch with Andy! It's been somewhat difficult forcing myself to talk and interact while people are streaming, though - most of my problem is that I feel I'm interrupting their concentration, or don't know enough 'Twitch memes' to be relevant. I've been doing a better job of getting involved in chat, and even asking questions about glitch methodologies and how to practice them.
I've been trying to answer a simple question during this foray into streamer land: "What game could I learn to stream it on Twitch?" Amusingly, the more I watch The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, the more broken I see it become, and the more hilarious I find it. While there are MANY amazing ALttP streamers out there already, I think it would be fun to learn the game and totally demolish it. Kudos to Andy for getting my interest riled up!
I feel it's important to be socially active with those who share hobbies with you, and this is my experiment in being less introverted. I feel it's going well, and I have great hopes for the future!
Love and lava cookies,
Tormod
