In the interest of transparency

Hey everybody,

Much of what has happened over the past few weeks has been internal and/or otherwise not yet covered by a full announcement.  Here's a quickie update on some of the most exciting stuff:

Company changes

Cripes, we are almost there.  Spinning up a company - in our case, an LLC - takes a lot of work, and even more to get it right.  I'm glad that we're nearing the home stretch, though, with the final documents going out in a couple days, and more administrative work to follow.

We opted for an LLC right out of the gate - even though it might have been easier / cheaper to do an LLP - mostly to tackle the extra runaround and legal wrangling sooner rather than later, should we expand our operation.

Team changes

I don't remember ever officially welcoming our new developer earlier, so let's do that now.  Welcome Geoff - aka 'Boris' - to the team!  He's helping us out on the development side, especially as it pertains to technical design and programming.  Myself and Shane have known him for several years prior as one of our college buddies.

Now that we have a second developer, processes that are understandably absent for a single developer - like easy bug tracking, external source control, and the like - now need to be spun up.  On that front, we're testing out a few different solutions, the most prominent of which, right now, is a mix of git (via Stash) and JIRA.  A lot to be learned for both of these areas; I use git, personally, just for my own stuff, but I've never really used it with more than one person...and JIRA itself is a complex software package in its own right.

Site changes

Look at that, most of everything matches everything else!  A slew of minor stylistic changes and bugfixes, including a lot that, if we've done our jobs correctly, you'll never notice.  Why even tell you, then?  Well, it's fun!

Seriously, though, we've added a couple more blocks to the right-hand side, given Seeking Infinity a real landing (as opposed to a hacked-together one earlier) and reshuffled other things to make it less visually offensive.  Your mileage may vary.

Project changes

Thankfully, fewer of these.  As we spin up more resources for development (and reallocate the existing ones), we're still moving ahead on what we've dubbed 'Project Auspice'.  We have a couple paragraphs and bulleted lists to share, but not until we find a good place to share it here on the site.  Cue more 'site changes'!

That's all for now.
