So I've thought a bit on just what we want to do with refreshing the site, and came up with a few core concepts. My thought is that getting them out here in the (relative) public will encourage a quicker turnaround.
Point the first - general layout
I like the three-column layout. There's enough we have here to fill it out and the layout itself isn't too busy or densely packed. The new one will be some variation on that, with reshuffled content panes and some adjustment as to what is visible up front versus what needs a click-through to more info.
Point the second - content focus
We've done enough on Seeking Infinity where it's difficult to justify including both that and general Zero Hour Productions stuff on the same front page - or, at least, in the same proportion. There will be some manner of separation, and since we're doing more on the latter now than the former, it will take precedence in amount and visibility.
Point the third - colors and branding
I like the colors as-is. I'm a big fan of more subdued coloration on the whole, and the muted dark blues seem to work pretty well. My personal belief is that the Internet is way too bright most of the time, so I think we'll do our part and save everyone's retinas that little bit. As far as branding is concerned, maybe it's just the amount of time I've looked at it, but when I see these particular shades of blue, I know exactly what I'm looking at. For other branding matters, we'll need to redo the logo(s) a bit. Much as I like my cobbled-together versions (I admit I have a certain attachment to them as a creator), at some point more time than I have thus allowed for it will become necessary. That, and in its current form, it takes up a lot of valuable space. Maybe something a bit shorter in height, and maybe some other variations to cater to a few different screen layouts.
